Son Of The Mob: Important Part Of The Story

"I start to argue, but decide, What's the point? We both know what we're talking about. "Yeah, vending machines," I say. "It's a little tough for my tastes.""(Pg 21) This briefly shows a bit of a dynamic act. The character Vince grew up in a family that was related to the Mafia business. However everyone was very into the business, Vince was not. He wanted the regular life and have cars and a house without it being one that's been stolen or robbed from. In another passage, Vince talks about buying his own car because he doesn't want Grand Theft Auto screamed at him.

Life of Pi: Response To Reading

I am currently at the part where the swarm of Flying Fish had flopped around past, over, and onto the boat. One of the fish is caught by Pi. To eat, he was to kill the fish but had resented to. Even with a cover over, he refused to break the neck. This is almost like me. I always despise to carry out the act of ending a life. There's just a part inside of me that refuses to act in such a way.

Son Of The Mob: The Introduction

In Son Of The Mob the book is introduced in a present day event. After it turns into a disaster, the book is then brought back into the past and explains the type of family and situation they are in. I personally think this is a nice way of introducing the book. Usually this kind of way of introducing the story grabs my attention. This is why I like this sort of introduction in books. Overall it's a great way to start off in my view.

Son Of The Mob: R2R [draft]

Son of The Mob is a fictional book by Gordon Kormon. This book talks about Victor Luca who was raised by a family that is connected to the mob. Overtime while Victor was being raised, he had no idea about what was going on while the house was tapped by the federal agency. He carried lunch sacks full of mashed diamonds, and opened up suit cases packed with drug money. An event that happens in the book is when Victor comes into the room with his uncle getting bullets pulled from his behind. It's a humorous scene due to the dad being on top of the uncle to hold him down and the mother using tweezers to pick the bullets out. Victor being a child confronts the scene with fright and terror being exposed to it. I would say this can relate to a scene in

My Book Talk

My book talk went alright. I had forgotten my visual aid hook along with the reading journal. I meant to turn it in the following night but had accidentally left the book in the class. The book talk itself however went swell. Surely I have gotten through the points that were required as indications of I have read the book. There was no speculation about me not reading the book and I assure you Miss' believe that I had read the book which I did. Another thing is that I memorized everything that were was to talk about with the exception of an example of a metaphor which I had forgotten. I truly liked the book that I had read and so did Miss' herself. Everything went alright throughout the whole book talk but unfortunately I had forgotten the visual aid hook. That was supposed to be a PowerPoint Presentation/Collage which I had forgotten to email to Miss'. For an improvement on my next book talk, I'd probably like to write a more detailed card next time so I can remember to explain everything without having to be reminded. I did great solely on ending it with asking if there was any questions that needed to be answered. Another thing I'd like to improve on is actually sending the PowerPoint Presentation or bringing the visual aid hook. That might have knocked down my grade a bit and I don't want that to happen next time when I give a talk about my book.

Maleeka Madison; She's super dynamic!

In the story The Skin I'm In, the main character is Maleeka Madison. She is a 7th grade student at McClenton. Before 7th grade, she had been the picture perfect student, with ongoing A's and delightful pleasantries from her teachers. After a while however, the students in her class would become hard on her with insults on her skin color and the clothes that she wore. These insults would bring her down and cause her to choose a path of a careless student. She would end up skipping classes, failing them, smoking and drinking in the bathroom, and destroying school property. She became dynamic midway when she started contemplating her choices that she's made. Maleeka Madison changes up her life by looking through her eyes and the eyes that support her. Her problems would almost seem to vanish.

Final Blog Project (C): The Ending Life of Dave Pelzer

I've read many books about this man, but the most recent book about his life would be The Privilege of Youth, where he finally is an adult. In the end of the book it mentions him joining the U.S Air Force. From my guess, I'd say he stayed in the Air Force for awhile. He probably did end up raising a family after wards. Most likely he met the girl that he did during his time in the Air Force. I'm guessing he's pretty rich from all the books he's written and the notability it's gotten. Good luck with your life David James Pelzer.

Final Blog Project (F): Child Abuse

This image does not just connect a little. It is exactly the problem in the book. This picture has a child with her right eye bruised due to child abuse. The same thing happened to the character in my book, Dave Pelzer. Dave Pelzer was the child of one of the most severe cases of child abuse. This picture also gives a life long lesson to children and parents from around the world. It gives a lesson on how mortifying child abuse is.

Book of Eli

Last weekend on Saturday, I watched Book of Eli at the theaters. All I can say is that it's one kick ass movie. Denzel Washington really did a great job playing as Eli. He's not such a bad guy as you would see him as in some of the previews or trailers. All he wants to do is complete his "goal" and nothing more. Along the way he meets up in a bar with a cult leader trying to take his book. This follows with fight scenes that's non-stop action. I'm not going to spoil the ending for you. BUT! The ending really is a twist, and his book is something that is basic. The ending also follows through with a theme. So if you have time and if it ever comes out on DVD, you should try to check it out.

My rating 9.5/10
It seemed a little short and there are some parts that you have to think hard about to understand it, just like the theme, Nevertheless it's a great movie.

Qualities Of Heroes/Odysseus

Odysseus is the hero, I guess of his own crew. He is the one that guides them home and throughout the journey. As you may see during the story, Odysseus is not much afraid of anything that crosses his path. He sees the Cyclops as nothing but a mere annoyance and even shouts threats to him. David from Speak was not afraid to stand up to Mr. Neck, which also later makes him a hero in the eyes of Melinda. Another quality of a hero that may relate Odysseus to another is that of always knowing his choice. Never is Odysseus uncertain about a decision that he is about to make. This quality fits into many heroes along with superheroes of today. Never do you truly see Spider-Man think twice about swinging to a building or Superman saving a group of people from a fire. Never do they ever back out. So I'm going to assume those are just a few of the many qualities of heroes of today and also the same of Odysseus.
